Dropped a huge woodpigeon in the garden yesterday.

One of my favourite foods - get them in three ways:

Flighting - watch where they fly - often in regular flight paths - waylay them with the bandhook (shotgun!);

Decoying - put some decoys - plastic or dead pigeons on the ground - into the wind is very important - so they look natural and wait in the hedge!

Roost shooting - wait for them to roost, just before dark and drop them as they come in.

They are easy to pluck and draw and my two favourite ways of cooking them are:

roasting; or cutting off the breasts and frying them with some garlic.  Enjoy!

Hi Huw,

Shot a nice woody at the fungi forage at the farm whilst Steve was in the woods with the group.

There was plenty of breast meat - although it was eaten before I got a taste!!

Cheers,

Phil.
