Been doing a lot of carving over the holidays. Few spoons and bowls/dishes. This is the latest
I call it....The AXE
http://www.probetech.co.uk/spoons/axe-spoon.jpg

A stubborn knot caused splintering so got worked around, which left an Iconic shape...
It also left the handle far too small for the bowl but <shrug> these never get used anyway. One day I will carve one good enough to eat with. Perhaps I'll have to go on Nicola's advanced spoon carving course ( Like I was gonna do last year! )

Been making other things but green woodworking and carving spoons is burning a hole in my head. Gotta do it soon! Good spoon. Looks like a cutting mat under it. Very sensible.

oh the cutting mat is for leatherworking and i just take photo's on it for scale purposes... the carving is done freeform in my lap in front of the fire... shaving go straight on the fire to save cleanup

Nice looking spoon Bardster, plenty of character. I really need to practise some more.....my efforts so far tend to end up in the woodpile! haha

Cheers,

Kim
